Millions of Americans are living in uncertainty and fear of what will come next.

Quick Tip: How to Capture GiftCalcs User Information

GiftCalcs is PG Calc's donor-facing gift calculator that is placed on an organization’s website so that donors and prospects can run their own life income gift calculations. The idea is that this process will increase their interest in making a gift and they will contact you!

GiftCalcs can also capture donor and prospect information so that you can reach out to them.

The information available for capture is name, address, phone, and email. Each of these fields can be set to Optional, Required, or Do Not Ask.

You can retrieve this information by producing a detail report of calculations run by GiftCalcs users during a chosen period, or by configuring GiftCalcs to send you an email each time a calculation is run. Either way, you can collect valuable information about what gift has caught the prospect’s interest and how to get in touch with them! You can even configure GiftCalcs so the visitor can indicate that he or she wants to be contacted.

Please contact us at 888-474-2252 or support@pgcalc.com if you have questions about this feature or with any GiftCalcs questions.

Business Continuity Planning

Ensuring the ongoing operation of PG Calc during a pandemic is only one of many contingencies we work hard to prepare for. Over the last 10 years we have sharpened this readiness by having multiple locations for our staff, the placement of our servers (with your data and applications on them), the ability to work remotely, duplication of critical supplies, and close cooperation with our vendors. We have anticipated many scenarios (none of which we hope to ever use) and identified three major areas of our work that we hope will suffer no more than 4 hours of interruption:

  1. Payments to beneficiaries for our Gift Administration clients
  2. Available servers for GiftWrap and PGM Anywhere
  3. Email and telephone support for our clients

We welcome your questions about how our preparedness plans can be combined with yours. To quote many people, we are planning for the worst while hoping for the best.

GDPR

GiftWrap Is GDPR Compliant

At PG Calc, we are continuously updating and upgrading our applications to ensure that client data, both stored within our databases and while in transit over the Internet, are as secure as possible. Of late, for example, we have enhanced and extended the encryption of data within the GiftWrap database and application-to-database connection strings. In addition, we have developed a series of enhancements, collectively designated as the Enhanced Security Module, that make available to GiftWrap clients security features such as Single Sign-On, Two-Factor Authentication, IP Address Filtering, and Secure Key Management.

Another area in which we are actively enhancing the GiftWrap application is protection of personally identifiable information, and compliance with published data security standards. Most recently, the GiftWrap application has come into compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). While PG Calc has no clients in the EU, we have determined that compliance with GDPR regulations is very much in our clients’ interests and serves to enhance application and data security overall.

The Ebenezer Society Foundation Is a Long-Time PGM User

Ebenezer was founded in 1917 by Minneapolis Lutherans to provide community-centered care for homeless older adults and others in need. Over the years, Ebenezer has evolved into more than merely helping the needy and homeless. Ebenezer is leading the way in providing innovative choices for senior living. Ebenezer's founder, Sister Carolyn, returned to Norway when she retired and put Ebenezer in her will – their first planned gift in 1938, which has very much inspired Ebenezer's development work.

The Ebenezer Society Foundation was established in 1979 to put in place a fundraising program, which included planned giving. The Foundation began to solicit estate gifts, and by the nineties was acting in the capacity of trustee, and was issuing gift annuities. Currently, the planned giving effort focuses on RMD rollovers, gifts from qualified plans, and gift annuities.

Michael Ziomko, Vice President of Development for the Ebenezer Society Foundation, had this to say about PG Calc:

“In the 80’s when I first began planned giving work, I had to choose a planned giving vendor. I remembered Gary Pforzheimer’s story, which I liked very much – Harvard boy helping out the development shop with calculations for a lead trust, if memory serves. So I gave PG Calc a call, and I’ve been using PG Calc’s Planned Giving Manager (PGM) ever since. Over the years their PGM software has expanded and become more sophisticated, but the one enduring quality about using PG Calc is the ready and capable assistance from the folks in the office. They haven’t just helped me when I had a question or needed assistance, they have also taught me much about planned giving instruments. Thanks, Gary and team, I wish you well – we all do and are grateful you went down this path!"
